Determined, Intelligent, Valued, American Young Ladies (DIVA) Conference

The Diva Conference is a major one day Northern California conference designed to assist young ladies in 7th through 12th grades to overcome barriers to completing high school and setting and obtaining their goals.  Activities include interactive workshops and discussions on topics including self-esteem, relationship building, communication, sexual health, physical health, career development, finances and high school requirements.  The conference is a two day conference held on Friday evening and all day Saturday during the month of November.  The conference is held at one of our local community college campuses.  Please check this website for our next DIVA Conference registration information.

Entering the College Zone (ECZ)

CZ was adopted in 1995 as the official affiliate flagship program.  The program represents an integrated approach to building national capacity to support low income African American middle school students and their parents in preparing for post secondary education.

Since 1995, the National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI) in collaboration   with the affiliate network has implemented the ECZ program in partnership with major urban school systems.  Entering the College Zone provides African American middle school students and their parents the opportunity to learn valuable information about the importance of preparing for college early.  The program provides guidance in selecting college preparatory classes, expose students to African American role models, and assist parents and students with developing a plan for attending and paying for college.
